Having become an actor at a mature age, he played the former postman Gino Rimediotti in the Sky TV series. In the past he had also worked with Paolo Virz, Matteo Garrone and Paolo Sorrentino. The memory of director Roan Johnson: Unique and unrepeatable talent

Gone is “the prankster”, as Alessandro Benvenuti affectionately called him, who had been working with him for several years on the TV series “I delitti del BarLume”, based on the novels of the Tuscan writer Marco Malvaldi. Having become an actor at a mature age, combining vernacular theater (he was part of the Livorno theater company “Le Maschere del Carrozzone”) with his work as an accountant, Marcello Marziali died at the age of 84 in his home in Livorno. In the successful series on Sky he played the legendary Gino Rimediotti, the stingy and irascible former postman who, together with his other three retired detective friends, was a regular customer at BarLume. In the past he had also worked with Carlo Virz (“The Summer of My First Kiss ”), Matteo Garrone (“Pinocchio”) and Paolo Sorrentino (“The New Pope”).

Dear Marcello Marziali (for all of us at Barlume, simply Gino), it has been a pleasure working and being with you over these years – wrote the director Roan Johnson in a post are Instagram, accompanying a series of shots with Marziali and the rest of the cast – . Even a very funny chore, eh, when you drove us crazy with jokes, which you changed places, distorted, invented from scratch. But it wasn’t a question of memory (we understood this after a couple of years) it was that you got emotional. You felt the pressure of the set, the rooms, the other actors. But then one way or another you caught her… and how much you made her laugh! She was inside you, not only because of your soup-blowing physique, but because of the way you told her, you moved: a magical and unrepeatable talent. The three new episodes filmed in the summer – “The wishing well”, “The turn” and “Sopra la bench” – will be broadcast in January, but the director has already announced that we are preparing a couple of homages and this is what you will make us do a few more laughs together.
