Ukrainian soldier shares harrowing story of survival on the front lines
Serhii, a 36-year-old infantryman in the 80th Air Assault Galician Brigade, has shared his incredible survival story after being pinned down by enemy fire for two weeks on the eastern front line in Ukraine.
During his mission, his unit became surrounded by Russian troops and under constant shelling. Despite being wounded in both legs and surrounded by the enemy, Serhii never gave up hope and continued to fight for survival.
For three days, he hid in his dugout while surrounded by enemy troops. He even managed to contact his commander and whisper the coordinates of the enemy so that Ukrainian artillery could conduct accurate strikes to protect his position.
Despite the odds, Serhii managed to crawl through enemy lines and make it back to Ukrainian positions, where he was finally able to be rescued.
His incredible story of survival and resilience has left many in awe, but Serhii insists that there is nothing heroic about his actions. He credits his fellow soldiers for their bravery and sacrifice on the front lines.
After more than two weeks of recovery, Serhii is now in a hospital in central Ukraine, where he is receiving medical treatment for the shrapnel embedded in his legs. He hopes to fully recover and return to his unit to continue fighting for his country.
