Tragic Landslide at Minneopa State Park Claims Life of 19-Year-Old

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) – A devastating landslide at Minneopa State Park resulted in the tragic death of a 19-year-old on Saturday night. The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that they received a 911 call just before 5 pm reporting the landslide at the Falls area of the park, with someone trapped underneath the collapsed earth.

Emergency workers quickly responded to the scene and were able to locate the trapped individual, identified as a 19-year-old male. Tragically, the young man was determined to be deceased once he was recovered from the landslide.

The incident is currently under investigation, and the Sheriff’s Office has indicated that more information will be released as it becomes available. In addition to the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office, several other agencies provided assistance, including the Mankato Department of Public Safety Police and Fire Divisions, Minnesota State Patrol, South Bend Fire Department, Lake Crystal Fire Department, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service.
