Comedian Rob Schneider knows that his career in Hollywood will not last long now that he has become a Christian, as he is forced to turn down many of the roles he has played throughout his life.

At 60 years old, the comedian did career in comedy films with an absurd and obscene tone, despite having acted in others with a more familiar tone, such as Big people, Click e As if it were the first timefamous not Brazil.

Recently, the actor spoke about how becoming a Christian awakened in him the feeling of abandoning the type of films he had acted in in the past, and said he was convinced that this decision would not be well received by Hollywood studios and producers:

“I know I can’t do the same things I used to do. Not because I have anything against what I did; I did what I did and felt good about it at the time. I won’t judge myself. But I won’t do the same things I did. I don’t know what I’m going to do… I want to come to this from a place of faith, from a place of something good in my heart,” he declared.

“I don’t know if I can tell dirty jokes anymore. I do not know if I can. I do not know if I’ll go. I have a performance that I’m doing now; I don’t know if I’ll do it again next year. Just some of the swear words, I say, ‘maybe I don’t want to say those words anymore.’ I don’t know. I also think it’s important not just to talk to converts, but to bring people in, and the best way is to show by example. People talk all the time; it doesn’t mean anything. So, I defend what I believe in – God, family and country – I am fine with everything that comes my way, positive or negative. When you have faith, nothing can really shake you,” added the comedian, in an interview with The Christian Post.

Aware that the values of the faith he embraced restrict him in the cinema market, Sob Schneider stated that the distance is mutual: “I don’t feel like I’m part of Hollywood”.

“I don’t feel any obligation to Hollywood. I don’t feel like Hollywood. I’m just an actor and I made my living there for a long time. I have no feelings of loyalty or disloyalty to Hollywood. Let them do whatever they want. I don’t feel the same fear they do. I’m not speaking for all of Hollywood, but what I noticed is that there is a fear of telling the truth and talking about what people believe and what they want”, he pointed out.

Now, as part of the new phase, the comedian is promoting a new comedy film with a family tone, called Daddy Daughter Trip, not yet translated into Portuguese, which will be released directly on digital platforms: “I wanted to make a film that would finally make my wife let my children see it,” he said.

“This is the first. And I wanted to make a movie that made people feel good… and made you laugh, made you think and made you feel like you were watching a real family, and it is a real family,” said Schneider.

In the plans, there is a film “about the love of Jesus” that tells a true story about a woman’s journey to prove that the carbon dating of the Shroud of Turin was flawed: “It is very difficult to make an expensive independent film. And I’ve been trying for a few years to put it together and we’re getting closer,” she revealed.
