Los ports of houston and Corpus Christi, both in Texas, experienced a decrease in the flow of containers and crude oil shipments. In Houston, container movement fell for the third consecutive month, with a total of 366,208 TEU moved, representing a 2% decrease compared to October 2022. Despite a 6% increase in full container exports , full imports decreased by 4%.

On the other hand, in Corpus Christi, October marked the first year-on-year decline in total shipments in 2023, with 16.5 million tons handled, 1.8% less than in the same period of the previous year. Total crude oil shipments also saw their first year-over-year decline in 2023, declining 0.5%.

Meanwhile, the Port of New Orleans in Louisiana saw an increase in container volumes in October, reaching 41,934 TEUs, up 3% from a year earlier. This increase was supported by imports of steel, rubber and coffee. However, breakbulk cargo had a year-on-year decrease of 29%, reaching 107,235 short tons.
