It had been 10 years since a French woman had won a ski jumping World Cup. At only 21 years old, it was the young Frenchwoman Joséphine Pagnier who stopped the French famine. The Doubs native won her first ski jumping World Cup victory on Sunday in Lillehammer, Norway. Already this Saturday, she finished second on the small hill.

Before her, the last French success dated from Coline Mattel's victory in Sapporo, Japan, in 2013. This is only the third time, men and women combined, that a World Cup round has been won by one or a Tricolor.

However, before winning this weekend in Norway and taking second place on the small hill, Joséphine Pagnier only had one small World Cup podium to her credit.

She now has three, and takes the lead in the general ranking of the World Cup after this first weekend of competition. With 180 points obtained this weekend, she is currently ahead of the young 19-year-old Canadian, Alexandria Loutitt (140 points) and the Japanese Yuki Ito (136 points).
