Winter Storm Warning and School Closings in Maine: Latest Updates from the National Weather Service

by time news

A winter storm warning has been issued for much of interior Maine, as snow and cold air moved through the state Sunday into Monday. The National Weather Service has predicted a good chance of accumulating snowfall for inland communities, as snow, a wintry mix, and rain overspread through the state Sunday afternoon.

A winter weather advisory was also issued for midcoast Maine and interior York and Cumberland counties from 7 p.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Monday, with the heaviest snow expected to be over by Monday morning but snow showers possible throughout the day.

The forecast calls for 7 to 11 inches in the foothills and mountains, 3 to 7 inches for Lewiston/Auburn and the Augusta area, and 1 to 3 inches closer to the coast. This storm brings a bit of uncertainty with it, so residents are advised to check for updates and expect a messy morning commute on Monday.
