At the start of each session, the same ritual. Before the children arrive, eight huge rolls of carpet must be unrolled and assembled to transform the floor of the Simon Bolivar gymnasium, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, into a dojo. Alain Perriot, emblematic figure of the Bolivar judo club – he signed his first license in 1977 – has been at it for almost thirty years. In the lockers reserved for the structure, judogis, registration forms, sports equipment and even an electric coffee maker are piled up.
