Toyota introduces new hybrid engine facility for their latest car model, the Toyota Hilux. The small compact motor-generator is now available with a diesel engine option, incorporating a 48V lithium battery system for charging. Weighing in at only 7.6 kg, this innovative engine provides 16 BHP of power and 65 NM of torque, with regenerative braking to constantly charge the battery and improve the car’s performance.
The diesel engine has been modified and tuned to match the hybrid, boasting a 16 valve 2.8 liter engine with 202 BHP of power and 500 NM of torque. It also has the impressive capability of going underwater up to 700mm. Additional highlights of the car include heat rejection glass, leather seats, manual air conditioning, 4WD facility, DAC, ATRAC, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, and a range of safety features such as 7 airbags, HAC, VSC, ABS, speed auto lock, and emergency brake signal.
The price of the Toyota Hilux starts at Rs 30.41 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 37.89 lakh (ex-showroom). In India, its only rival is the ISUZU D Max off-road SUV.
