OECD inflation moderated to 5.6% in October, at its lowest since 2021

The interannual inflation rate of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) stood at 5.6% last October, six tenths below the figure for the previous month, which implies the smallest increase in the prices from October 2021

OECD food inflation continued to slow rapidly, reaching 7.4% in October, down from 8.1% in September, while OECD energy inflation was negative in October.

Thus, core inflation, which excludes the effect of energy and food volatility, remained practically stable at 6.5% in October 2023.

According to the advanced economies think-tank, the inflation rate moderated in October in 28 countries, while it increased in Estonia, South Korea, Norway, Greece, the Czech Republic and Costa Rica.

The largest price increases among OECD countries were seen in Turkey (61.4%), Colombia (10.5%) and Hungary (9.9%), while prices fell by 0.4% in Netherlands and rose just 0.1% in Denmark and 0.4% in Belgium.
