The Social Welfare Department in Theni organized a series of competitions as an awareness program to eliminate violence against women. The event took place at the Theni District Sports Hall and included Rangoli, Essay, Poster Making, and Photo competitions.
The event was graced by the presence of Collector Shajivana, who distributed prizes to the winners of the competition. In the essay competition, Malini secured the first prize, followed by Shanthakumari in second place and Vetrivel in third place. The poster making competition saw Jaya clinching the first prize, with Veeralakshmi and Vishnu sharing the second prize and Jayakrishnan securing the third prize.
Moving on to the men’s rangoli drawing competition, Jayakrishnan, Balaji, and Jayaprakash emerged as the winners, claiming the first prize. Unfortunately, the mobile phone photography contest did not yield any winners as no one submitted a photo in line with the contest theme. However, all participants were recognized for their efforts and received a certificate of participation.
The event aimed to not only encourage creativity but also raise awareness about the pressing issue of violence against women. By involving the community in such initiatives, the Social Welfare Department hopes to foster a sense of responsibility and unity in the fight against such atrocities.
