Continuing with the program to reduce losses and improve the conditions of provision of the aqueduct and sewage service, through physical intervention and replacement of the networks, the Aqueduct and Sewer Management executes works for more than $150,000 million in nearly 50 sectors from different areas of the city.

These works, which include the total change of the asphalt layer, and the ways to intervene were agreed upon with the communities.

“The interventions not only improve the conditions of service provision but also generate a considerable transformation in the environment and physical space of the neighborhoods,” explained engineer Julian Lora Ortiz, head of the Audit Unit of the Acueducto Management. .

The program to replace water and sewage networks, in addition to improving the conditions of service provision, allows for a lower rate of drinking water losses and timely management of rainwater and sewage to mitigate flood risks in neighborhoods.

In total, with this project, 18 kilometers of aqueduct networks and 13 kilometers of sewer networks, both stormwater and sanitary, will be replaced in neighborhoods such as Alfonso López, El Sena, Salomia, Los Pinos, Maracaibo, Tres de Julio, Siete of August, among others.

“This is an excellent work, because it is for the benefit of the community, to give them a better life, that shows good management,” said Óscar Andrés Bravo, a resident of the El Sena neighborhood.

“Several years ago we had been requiring the sewer network to be changed, because the street was sinking and the pavement was in very poor condition. We are going to have a few months of discomfort, but it is worth it because they are going to leave the street like new,” said Sandra Reyes, from the Vipasa neighborhood, where Emcali is changing more than 200 meters of the main network and all the connections.
