The December long weekend has arrived and the calendar has done us the favor of being able to chain together five days of vacation. Time to rest, take a getaway or plan something with friends and family if you are not a member of Baskonia, because Vitorian fans will barely have a break with the wave of games that are coming their way: up to five in just nine days, all in the Fernando Buesa Arena, which also turns the Alava fiefdom into an attractive destination to protect yourself from the cold and watch good basketball.
This week’s Euroleague doubleheader, plus an ACB match relocated during the week, has created this whim that the calendar sometimes leaves us with. Baskonia hosts Fenerbahce this Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. and will repeat the continental event on Friday with the visit of Red Star to Vitoria, also at 8:30 p.m.
On the weekend, Sunday, it will be their turn to face Lenovo Tenerife of Txus Vidorreta in an important match for the Vitorians, because after losing in Badalona they have begun to complicate the classification for the Copa del Rey. That match will be on Sunday at 5:00 p.m., while Palencia, recently promoted and last in the table, will jump to the Buesa Arena on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
The last effort of this sprint that will keep the Baskonista fans very busy and with hardly any time to wash their shirts and scarves will be on Thursday, December 12, also at 8:30 p.m., against Virtus de Bologna.
Ivanovic’s team is seventh in the Euroleague with a record of six wins and five losses, while in ACB they are outside the top eight with six wins and six losses, the same result as the eighth-placed team, Tenerife, rival on Sunday.
