Windows 11 Update Causing CPU Performance Loss for Some Users
Reports from foreign netizens have revealed that some users are experiencing a decline in CPU performance after upgrading to the Windows 11 23H2 version, causing their systems to lag. This performance issue is particularly noticeable for users who play games.
According to foreign science and technology website NEOWIN, the CPU performance of Windows 11 23H2 is reportedly lower than that of the previous version, Windows 11 22H2, in both single-thread and multi-thread tasks.
On Reddit, user BNSoul shared their experience of noticing a performance drop of around 5% to 8% in multiple CPU benchmarks after updating to Windows 11 23H2. They also mentioned experiencing random stuttering in games.
In addition to the CPU performance degradation, some gamers have observed a decrease in GPU utilization leading to game screen tearing. Meanwhile, CPU usage remained unchanged, and some games displayed bandwidth-related error messages.
Microsoft has responded to the issue by acknowledging that it is related to the hardware-based virtualization feature of Microsoft Defender. They have provided instructions for users to reset Microsoft Defender using PowerShell in administrator mode.
