The world motorsport association has initiated investigations against Mercedes team boss Toto Wolf and his wife Susie. However, they are based on a rather dubious source. The managing director of the F1 Academy in particular reacts with extremely clear words.
The Formula 1 season has been over for around a week and the drivers and team bosses are on vacation to calmly recharge their batteries for the coming year. Toto (51) and Susie Wolff (40) are currently experiencing the most turbulent days of their past few months. The Mercedes team boss and his wife are the focus of the Fia’s investigation. The world association’s compliance department has opened an investigation against the couple. Reason: Suspicion of passing on confidential information.
In the past few days there have been speculations and rumors in Formula 1 circles that a team boss is said to have received valuable details from an employee of the racing series. Susie Wolff is managing director of the F1 Academy, the women’s Formula 1, part of the premier class of motorsport.
However, there is apparently little or no evidence or indications for the process. He continued: “The team has received no communication from the FIA on this matter and it was very surprising to learn of the investigation through a media statement. We firmly reject the allegations. Of course, we expect full, prompt and transparent correspondence from the FIA regarding this investigation and its contents.”

Susie Wolff was even clearer in her statement, which she shared on her social media channels, among other things: “I am deeply offended, but unfortunately not surprised, by the public accusations that have been made this evening. It is disheartening that my integrity is being questioned in this way, especially when it appears to be based on intimidation and misogynistic behavior and focuses on my marital status rather than my abilities.”
Formula 1 also published a statement – including a clear swipe at the world association: “We take note of the FIA’s statement, of which we had no prior knowledge. We have full confidence that the allegations are false because we have procedures in place to ensure the separation of information and responsibilities in the event of a possible conflict of interest.”
