Andry Rajoelina’s victory in the first round of the presidential election on November 16 is confirmed. Less than a day before the proclamation of the provisional results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), the outgoing president leads with a score of 59.80% of the votes cast in the 23,571 polling stations out of the 27,375 existing.

In these 86.10% of the results obtained so far, former president Marc Ravalomanana obtained 12.83% of the votes cast although he did not participate in the electoral campaign. Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko, who left the Candidates’ Collective, is in third place with 12.76% of the votes.

No major change is to be expected in the results that the CENI plans to make public on Saturday. The Candidates’ Collective has already announced that it will not recognize the results. It remains to be seen what happens next in their movement, which has been suspended in recent days.
