Although fuel prices have been declining for more than two months, they are still above the levels recorded before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine and remain very exposed to any fluctuations caused by uncertainty and international instability. To facilitate fuel savings for consumers, the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) has made a comparison between more than 10,000 gas stations throughout Spain to find the chains with the best prices for both gasoline and diesel.
What are the cheapest gas stations?
According to the OCU analysis, BonÀrea is the cheapest chain in diesel A, gasoline 95 and gasoline 98. It is a chain of supermarkets and service stations in Catalonia and areas of Aragon.
In the case of diesel, GM Oil (linked to GM cash), Beroil, Campsa Express (the low-cost variant of Campsa) and Petroprix also stand out. Except for Beroil, these are automatic gas station chains.

If the fuel you usually refuel with is improved diesel or LPG, the chain with the best prices is Ballenoil. However, the OCU warns that not all service stations of this chain offer these products, and the same thing happens in other small, low-cost chains or those associated with supermarkets.

The provinces with the best prices
The provinces with a lower average price differ in the case of diesel or gasoline: in the case of diesel, the cheapest are Murcia and Valladolid, while Lérida, Córdoba and Almería are the ones with the best average prices for gasoline.
The most expensive provinces are Vizcaya, Asturias and Guipúzcoa. They have gas stations that are 5% more expensive on average than those in the cheapest provinces, which is equivalent to about eight cents per liter, but they are all surpassed by the Balearic Islands, with prices that are 7% higher and more than 10 cents difference. half.
The provinces with the highest percentage of cheap service stations are Navarra, Almería and Murcia, where between 41% and 44% of gas stations have cheap prices. A little less in Valladolid, Córdoba, Lérida, Toledo and Barcelona.
However, in the Balearic Islands only 4% of gas stations are cheap. In Guipúzcoa, Orense, Asturias, Ávila, Palencia and La Rioja the percentages of cheap gas stations vary between 12 and 18%.
Until fuel prices return to normal, the OCU recommends keeping an eye on the offers launched by some chains and using their gas station locator to find the cheapest ones.
