Nintendo Announces New Super Smash Bros Ultimate Content for 5th Anniversary Celebration

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been five years since the release of Super Smash Bros Ultimate. To celebrate this milestone, Nintendo has confirmed new content coming to the game as part of the 5th-anniversary event, with even more updates scheduled for 2024.

In a surprising announcement, Nintendo revealed that a special in-game event will kick off to celebrate Ultimate’s fifth anniversary. During this event, experience points received after a battle will be multiplied by five. This will give players the opportunity to level up and progress at a much faster pace.

But that’s not all. Nintendo also teased that even more content is on the way in 2024. According to a follow-up post, in January of next year, Nintendo will be holding a series of additional events with new Spirits and tag tournaments where players can challenge the amiibo they have raised.

The series creator, Masahiro Sakurai, also chimed in to thank fans for the five years of Smash Ultimate and hinted at the new spirits event. “It seems that an event with new spirits will be held here. What game is it from?” he asked.

This news comes at a time when fans have been eagerly awaiting updates on the possibility of a new Super Smash Bros game or a Deluxe Edition of Smash Ultimate with additional fighters and stages. Sakurai himself has suggested that a new game is in the works despite his “retirement.”

While details on the new content drop are still scarce, fans are hoping for adjustments to the power of some of Fighters Pass Volume 2’s characters, such as Minecraft Steve, in a new patch.

For now, fans can look forward to the upcoming events and content updates for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Stay tuned for more updates as they emerge, and keep an eye on Dexerto for all your Super Smash Bros news.
