The first sanctions fall! The authorities have decided to ban fan travel for football matches classified as high-risk until at least December 18. And so it starts this weekend. The Interior Ministry announced in a decree that eight matches in France were affected this weekend, including five in Ligue 1.

To decide on the ban, the process is simple. Just look if the match is rated as risky by the National Division for the Fight against Hooliganism (DNLH), even at 1 out of 5 (i.e. many L1 and L2 matches).

A decision taken after the death of one of his supporters, stabbed to death by a VTC driver last weekend in Nantes. Jocelyn Gourvennec’s club is among the first concerned with the travel ban on its supporters for the match against PSG at the Parc des Princes this Saturday at 9 p.m.

RC Lens surprised to be sanctioned

Already sanctioned after the stoning of the OL bus earlier in the season, Marseille supporters will also not be at their team’s match against Lorient this Sunday at 8:45 p.m. Fans of Toulouse and Stade de Reims are also prevented from traveling to Lyon and Nice respectively.

Same sanction for Lensois supporters traveling to Montpellier this Friday (9 p.m.). A decision which surprised the club, barely 24 hours before the kick-off of the 15th day of Ligue 1.

The Racing Club de Lens expressed “its biggest questions” in a press release. “How is it therefore possible that half of the J15 matches can be played with open parking spaces and that a match not classified as risky results in a ban? », asks the artesian club, pointing out, in essence, “inequalities”.

Three other Coupe de France matches are also affected: Angoulême-Bordeaux, ASSE-Nîmes, and Saint-Meziéry-Auxerre. In response, the National Supporters Association announced that it would contact the Council of State regarding the ministerial and prefectural decrees applicable to matches in Saint-Méziery, Montpellier, Nice and Angoulême.

In Angoulême precisely, the club chose to keep open the visitor parking lot which was to accommodate 350 ultras from Bordeaux. Some Girondin supporters are even already there…
