After his two defeats against Martin Bakolé in May 2022 and Carlos Takam in March 2023, Tony Yoka makes his return to the ring this Saturday against Belgian Ryad Merhy at Roland-Garros. The Rio Olympic champion (31 years old) is playing big and will have to relaunch his career against the former WBA light heavyweight world champion (31 victories in 33 fights).

According to a survey carried out by Odoxa for Winamax and RTL, the heavyweight still seems to enjoy a good popularity rating: 72% of French people and 73% of boxing fans indicate that they have a good opinion of the boxer and more 7 out of 10 of them consider it likeable. The public overwhelmingly judges Yoka to be powerful (French: 74%, boxing fans: 69%) and technical (71% and 74%). And they do not question his personal investment: 77% of French people and 76% of boxing fans believe that he is hardworking.

Despite everything, his image is damaged: 63% of boxing fans consider that he is overrated and 47% that he is pretentious.

But boxing fans nevertheless remain confident for the rest of his career. 73% of boxing fans see him winning his fight against Ryad Merhy. And 75% of boxing fans even think that Tony Yoka has the potential to one day become world boxing champion.
