What are the IMSS Competitiveness Awards?
This is an annual recognition of best practices that evaluates all Social Security units. The objective is to highlight excellent work and provide care to beneficiaries with the highest quality standards.
In the 2023 edition, the recognitions were obtained by 15 medical units, five administrative units and one social security unit.

For his part, the director of Social Security, Zoé Robledo, highlighted that unlike previous years, the IMSS Integrity and Transparency Unit modified the regulatory framework of the evaluation model for the award winners. The objective is to generate a greater sense of community and pride in belonging to the Institute, while responding to the operational reality of the units and giving the award “to those who deserved it greatly and truly stand out above the rest.”

For her part, the head of the Integrity and Transparency Unit, Patricia Pérez de los Ríos, said that although the Organization and Quality Unit was created in 1997, with the purpose of coordinating the improvement of institutional quality, by 2020 the competitiveness agenda once again became an institutional priority after receiving an observation from the general director of Social Security.
In his speech, the secretary general of the National Union of Social Security Workers (SNTSS)Dr. Arturo Olivares Cerda, indicated that this award promotes innovation in processes and services to enhance the best institutional practices, where human capital plays a predominant role in achieving objectives and providing good results.
He added that the work performance of the workers of the IMSS It is a reference in various fields of health and is a mirror of the human and professional quality of its members, a fact that places the Institute as the best provider of medical and administrative services in Latin America.
He IMSS Award for Competitiveness grants an evaluation to the units with the purpose of improving the Institute’s services. For more than a decade, the competitiveness model has been the frame of reference for this evaluation and recognition, which is why competitiveness is part of this transformation in these 80 years of the Institute.
