Repair Work Commences on the Interior of the Kaaba in Makkah

Construction work has begun on the interior of the Kaaba in Makkah, with renovation work progressing completely under cover around the sacred site. The Ministry of Finance and other government agencies are overseeing the construction work, which is being carried out under the special directive of Saudi King Salman and the Crown Prince.

The repair work, which commenced in the early morning, will continue in the coming days. The construction work is progressing around the Kaaba, which is so high that it cannot be seen inside. Additionally, Hijr Ismael on the north side of the Kaaba will also be covered, where most of the repairs are taking place.

As a result of the renovation, it is not currently possible to touch the Ka’bah, see Hajar al-As-Wad, or perform the ritual of kissing the sacred stone, as the Kaaba is completely covered. However, believers can still complete Tawaf, or circumambulation of the Kaaba, as well as other acts of worship including Namaz without any hindrance. They can also see the area from the door of the Kaaba to the top.

It is important to note that only specially authorized workers are allowed to enter the enclosure during the construction period. The renovation work is a significant endeavor that aims to ensure the preservation and maintenance of the historic and revered Kaaba.

The Saudi government, under the leadership of King Salman and the Crown Prince, is committed to the ongoing upkeep and restoration of the holy site, reaffirming its dedication to facilitating the smooth performance of religious rituals for believers from around the world.
