Photographer Evgeny Feldman left Russia for fear of political persecution.
“I don’t really appreciate the prospect of returning right now. It seems to me; that it’s easier to leave, I think it’s forever – and then act according to the situation, ”he told RBC.
Feldman revealed on Instagram that he made the decision to leave two months ago. According to him, the work of a documentary filmmaker in Russia is becoming impossible due to the fact that the country’s authorities are forcing everyone to “pretend that people, trends and facts that are unpleasant to them do not exist.” Feldman noted that the Center for Combating Extremism considers him an opposition activist because of his work as a photographer.
“So, someday the repressions against those who worked with Alexei Navalny will reach me,” he said.
