In the large living room, Rikke Andersen and Simon Freudendahl Petersen have knocked down a wall into the kitchen, thus creating a large kitchen-dining room and living room in one. From the living room there is a view of the garden from the large windows. The walls are painted with S2005-B80G from Flügger. Photo: Katrine Becher Damkjær

Rikke Andersen and her boyfriend Simon Freudendahl Petersen went to work systematically when they had to find the family’s future home in Tønder four years ago. A combination of letters in mailboxes, Excel sheets and a good dose of bad luck ended up paying off. Today, the couple lives in a 70s villa full of colors and whimsical lamps.

The green marble tiles in the entrance hall and the doors with brass handles are some of what the couple have preserved. Photo: Katrine Becher Damkjær 30-year-old Rikke Andersen recently took part in DR’s “Loppen & Lærlingen”, where she and recycling expert Niels Jørgen Jørgensen found fleas in the Danish summer country. Photo: Katrine Becher Damkjær Rikke Andersen and Simon Freudendahl Petersen looked for a house for a long time and ended up driving Tønder thin to find the house of their dreams. They ended up throwing a note in the mailbox of the house they now own. Photo: Katrine Becher Damkjær A homemade pendant with yarn in different colors hangs above the dining table. Photo: Katrine Becher Damkjær The kitchen is from Ikea, but Rikke Andersen and Simon Freudendahl Petersen have chosen a table top from another company to achieve the thin, elegant look. They installed the moldings on the kitchen island themselves. Photo: Katrine Becher Damkjær The bathroom is as it was when the family took over the house three years ago – with original tiles and a green bathtub. The dream is a different floor though, as it doesn’t quite match the rest of the 70s feel. The previous owners changed the floor in the 90s when they installed underfloor heating. Photo: Katrine Becher Damkjær Simon Freudendahl Petersen didn’t think that the living room should be yellow, nor the TV cabinet should be pink, but Rikke Andersen loves colors and got the last word. For a long time, the double bed stood in the large living room, which today is also the kitchen-dining room.
