The deceased have been identified as Vinod Babusenan (43), a retired soldier, his wife GB Abraham (38), and their daughter Jane Maria Jacob (11). The police have concluded that the couple took their own lives after killing their daughter.
Vinod had been married once before, and he had a child from his first marriage. GB also had a daughter, Jane Maria, from her first marriage. The tragic incident took place at Chamavila house in Paravur Kuna.
The Madikeri Rural Police launched an investigation into the incident and registered a case. It was revealed that the family checked into the resort on Friday evening but were not seen outside their room the following morning. Suspicions were raised when the staff received no response after knocking on their door. Upon entering the room, the family was found hanging.
Vinod, who was formerly in the army, had been running an educational consultancy after his return in 2012. It was during this time that he met GB, who was a teacher in the Biotechnology Department at Tiruvalla Marthomma College. The two got married in a register a few months ago and had been living in a rented apartment in Thiruvalla.
GB had taken leave from her college a week prior, citing a trip to Delhi. This makes the sudden and tragic demise of the family even more shocking.
