UGT has called four days of strike in the supermarkets of the Community of Madrid that will take place on December 23, 24, 30 and 31 in response to the “stagnation” in the negotiations of the collective agreement and the labor demands of the workers of this sector.

This strike will affect various supermarket chains such as Alcampo, Hiper Usera, Hiber, La Sirena, Carrefour, Eroski, Supercor, Lidl, Aldi, Alimerka, Condis, Froid, Ifa, Mercadona, among others, as well as traditional markets, galleries commercial and street stores dedicated to the food trade.

The call for these days of protest responds to the “failed attempts” for months by the UGT Commerce sector to unblock the negotiation of the collective agreement of the Food Trade in the Community of Madrid, as reported by this union in a statement.

In his opinion, the “efforts made have been frustrated time and again by the position adopted” by the sector’s employers, represented by ACES, Asedas, Unica, Adepesca, Adefrutas and Asdhac.

“These employers have unjustifiably hindered the signing of the agreement, which affects around 51,000 workers in the Community of Madrid,” added UGT, which explained that this “blockade” has led the union to publicly denounce the lack of progress in conditions. employment of these employees.

In addition, he pointed out that the main intention is to “put pressure” on employers to reconsider their position and look for a solution that benefits workers in the food trade sector in the region.

“Our concern is about the loss of purchasing power suffered by the sector’s workforce, despite the enormous profits recorded by the companies. We insist on the urgent need to improve the working conditions of this important Madrid group,” said UGT.
