Hadera Completes Installation of 10,000 Energy-Saving Street Lamps

In an effort to reduce electricity consumption and emissions, the city of Hadera has completed the installation of approximately 10,000 energy-saving street lamps. The project, which was led by the Hadera Economic Company for the municipality, involved an investment of NIS 30 million and is expected to result in significant energy and cost savings.

The new street lamps are powered by LED lighting and come with advanced features that allow for greater control and efficiency. According to Shay Arnett-Cohen, CEO of Hadera Economic Company, the lamps can be turned on and off as needed, and partial lighting can be selected, providing the flexibility to adjust lighting levels based on specific requirements.

Furthermore, the electricity poles themselves will become valuable assets for the city. In the future, they can potentially be used as charging stations for electric vehicles and for various screenings after the installation of control and control systems, as well as cameras and sensors.

The project received financial support from the Investments Authority in the Ministry of Economy, with a grant of 4.280 million shekels. Part of the grant was allocated for the first commercial installation of Israeli technology for the controlled lighting fixtures, developed by the ‘Gesh Lighting’ company.

The installation of the new LED lighting fixtures is expected to result in a minimum of 55% electricity consumption savings for public lighting. Additionally, the infrastructure of the lighting poles was improved as part of the project, ensuring the overall sustainability and efficiency of the lighting system.

The smart lighting system was developed by the Geash company for the Agricultural Cooperative Association Ltd. Each of the new lanterns can be controlled individually, allowing for dimming or turning off as needed, in contrast to the previous fixed timing system.

As Hadera gears up for the holiday season, the completion of this innovative project serves as a timely and significant achievement, marking a milestone in the city’s commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
