MK Gilad Kariv Considering Running for Labor Party Leadership

Yesterday (Sunday), Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced plans to bring a security budget for Judea and Samaria settlements to the government for approval. This news comes in the midst of the approval of the state budget and the issue of coalition funds. In response to these developments, Knesset member Rabbi Gilad Karib spoke out and even hinted at the possibility of running in the Labor Party’s primaries.

“I am seriously considering the option, for me this option is definitely a real option,” clarified Karib. “We will not enter the government, the opposition is important even in a state of emergency and war. We supported the entry of Gantz and Eisenkot into the war cabinet, and we still think it is very important to also have representation outside the coalition within the Knesset. This is our role. Criticism of the government is also important at this time.”

Karib also addressed the issue of funds within the coalition, stating, “There are definitely funds that do not belong in the coalition funds, but we are talking about a different event.”

These comments from Knesset member Rabbi Gilad Karib indicate a potential shift in leadership within the Labor Party, with Karib expressing a serious consideration of running for the top position. As the political landscape in Israel continues to evolve, Karib’s potential entry into the Labor Party leadership race could signal a new phase in Israeli politics.
