The first day of the strike at the Eroski warehouse in Elorrio, managed by Cecosa, had 100% monitoring according to ELA, while the company lowered it to 80%. The workforce called to strike are the 130 employees of the nearly 400 workers, most of them cooperatives, who make up the platform, the largest of the entire distribution group, in charge of supplying all non-perishable products in the northern area of Spain.

According to ELA, the unanimous monitoring in the warehouse caused the activity to “stop” given that there are few cooperative members who work in this unit. Eroski, however, assures that the platform, which integrates numerous sections in addition to the warehouse, has remained operational, although “difficulties are noted due to absences.”

The ELA and LAB unions, which were elected in the first elections held in the warehouse, have called a total of five days of strike, until Saturday of this week, to denounce that the 130 workers, “many of them racialized, provide service under the protection of a state agreement, earning close to the SMI, without bonuses that compensate for their night, holiday or rotating work.

In relation to the agreement, they demand that the Bizkaia food trade agreement be applied, with effective measures in health and occupational prevention and paid breaks, as well as the organization of an annual calendar that puts an end to arbitrary changes. Eroski, for his part, assures that the demand to apply another agreement was raised a week ago and that they are willing to negotiate.
