With the aim of recognizing the efforts of athletes, in the second edition of the E&G Awards, skater Ivonne Nóchez Gallardo and Herbert Aceituno, parapowerlifting athlete, were recognized as the best athletes of 2023.
In the Athlete of the Year category, in addition to the respective recognition, the athletes received a vehicle each, delivered by the ad honorem president of the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES), Yamil Bukele.
Ivonne, who this year went from junior to senior category, won the award and the vehicle for the second consecutive time, after being awarded the Best Female Athlete and Junior Athlete of the Year at the 2022 gala for her world gold medal in the 200 meters goal against goal.
For his part, Aceituno received the Male Athlete of the Year award for the silver medal he won at the Dubai 2023 World Parapowerlifting Championships.
The parathlete, beneficiary of the Effort and Glory Program, once again raised the name of El Salvador by securing a silver medal by lifting 193 kilograms and breaking the record of the Americas and his personal best, which was 187 kg, three times.
