A meditation on destiny
Inspired by the life of its director, a Korean playwright who emigrated with her parents to Canada at the age of 12 before settling in the United States, “Past Lives” is a film about youthful loves, their character passionate and unique. Over the years and the jumps in time that the story makes, the bond that unites Nora and Hae Sung remains intense, unalterable, and their separations each time heartbreaking.
It is also a melancholy meditation on destiny.
