By winning the draw at Inter Milan (0-0), the Spanish club finished at the top of their group. Benfica narrowly escaped in the Europa League.
Real Sociedad held on until the end. Already magnificently qualified for the round of 16 of the Champions League even before the last day, the Spanish club managed to keep first place under the nose of Inter Milan, unable to win this Tuesday (0 -0). Real Sociedad will therefore be first in the draw for the 8th round, while Inter will be in the hat of second.
Third place, synonymous with the Europa League play-offs, almost went to Salzburg, who certainly lost at home against Benfica (1-2), but who then retained a small goal lead in the direct confrontation with the Lisbon team. But Arthur Cabral delivered the Lisbon club in stoppage time by scoring a third goal (1-3), the one which reversed the ranking, Benfica finishing ahead of Salzburg, therefore eliminated from all European competitions.
