Turkish Lawmaker suffers heart attack in parliament after declaring Israel ‘will not be able to escape the wrath of God’

A Turkish lawmaker, 53-year-old Hasan Bitmez, fell to the ground in Parliament on Tuesday after delivering a speech in which he declared that Israel “will not be able to escape the wrath of God.” The incident occurred during a discussion on the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

Video footage shows Bitmez delivering a passionate speech, stating, “Even if history remains silent, the truth will not remain silent. They think that if they get rid of us, there will be no problem. However, if you get rid of us, you will not be able to escape the torment of conscience. Even if you escape the torment of history, you will not be able to escape the wrath of God.” Moments later, Bitmez collapsed and hit the ground, appearing to suffer from a heart attack.

Emergency medical crews rushed to the scene to provide CPR and first aid to Bitmez before he was taken out of the room on a stretcher. The health minister, Fahrettin Koca, confirmed that Bitmez had two main veins completely blocked, and despite intervention not yielding any results, he was connected to a heart-lung pump and is now in vital condition.

Bitmez is listed in serious condition and is known to be diabetic and to have had two heart stents. The incident occurred while he was criticizing the Turkish government’s policy regarding the Israel-Hamas war. This incident has caused concern as tensions between Turkey and Israel continue to escalate.
