Michigan State Police Third District troopers were involved in a shooting in Bridgeport Township at Dixie near California Thursday evening. The incident occurred in the 4800 block of Dixie Hwy, according to reports.

The preliminary investigation revealed that members of the MSP Fugitive Team were attempting to arrest a 51-year-old man on multiple felony warrants. However, the suspect fled from officers and then brandished a firearm, threatening the state troopers. Subsequently, officers fired their weapons at the suspect.

As a result of the exchange, a member of the MSP Fugitive Team and the suspect were both shot. The state trooper has since undergone surgery and is currently in stable condition. Unfortunately, the suspect did not survive the encounter.
