© Reuters. BC launches public consultation to gather subsidies to regulate the virtual asset market
The Central Bank reported this Thursday, 14th, that it launched a public consultation with the aim of collecting subsidies to continue regulating the market for the provision of virtual asset services (cryptoassets) in Brazil. According to the institution, the consultation questionnaire is organized into eight thematic blocks, with 38 questions.
The topics covered are: Asset segregation and risk management; Activities developed and virtual assets traded; Hiring essential services; Governance and conduct rules; Cyber security; Providing information and protecting customers; Transition Rules; and General Manifestations.
The consultation will be open to receive contributions until January 31, 2024, using the form available on the Banco Central do Brasil website, www.bcb.gov.br, successively accessing the links in the general profile “Financial stability”, “Standards”, “Public consultations” and “Active consultations”.
“All contributions will be available for consultation by the public on the website of this Central Bank of Brazil on the internet. The development of regulations on the market for the provision of virtual asset services (cryptoassets) derives from the competence given by Law No. 14,478/2022 and by Decree nº 11,563/2023”, informed the BC.
