Gitega, 2023: Signature of the Decree for the CENI, marking a turning point in the preparation of the 2025 elections and the strengthening of Democracy in Burundi.
Gitega, December 11, 2023 – In accordance with the administrative policy of Burundi, HE Ndayishimiye Evariste, Major General and President of Burundisigned decree n°100/238 [1]. This decree announces the appointment of members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), marking an important step in the country’s electoral process. The new CENI team, chaired by Mr. Ntahorwamiye Prosper and with Ms. Nahimana Victoire as Vice-Presidentis responsible for organizing the 2025 elections.
Historically, Burundi, traditionally known as Ingoma Y’Uburundi, relied on a thousand-year-old alliance -ganwa- between the various -miryango- of Barundi. This alliance was defended and represented by the They are comparedwith the support of Get caught and Take them, under the direction of Mwami. Questioning this current system that is too conflictual and not harmonious, a new generation of Barundi aspires to a return to tradition, by reinstating the alliance between all the miyango of Barundi to determine the leadership of the country (politics) et by reestablishing ubumu, the traditional socio-economic system, as the main basis of Burundian socio-economic policy, modernized in the current global context of BRICS+ and some GUAN.
