Football: the next Ligue 1 season will resume on August 16, 2024

The Executive Committee of the French Football Federation (FFF) validated this Friday the general competition calendar for the 2024-2025 season. Due to the Paris Olympics (from July 26 to August 11, 2024), the resumption of L1 and L2 was postponed compared to previous years.

Ligue 1 will resume on August 16 as will Ligue 2 which will increase to 18 clubs, and therefore to 34 days. The fifteenth day of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, scheduled for the weekend of December 13, will be the last of the calendar year. Ligue 1 will end its season on the weekend of May 17, 2025 while Ligue 2 will end on the weekend of May 10.

The first leg of the L1 promotion play-offs will take place on Thursday, May 22, while the return will take place on Sunday, May 25. The double confrontation will pit the 16th in the Championship against the winner of the L2 playoffs. Concerning the Ligue 2 play-offs, playoff 1 between the 4th and 5th in Ligue 2 will take place on Tuesday May 13, 2025. The winner of this match will face the 3rd in the championship in a second playoff scheduled for Friday May 16, 2025 before the dams against the 16th in L1.

The 2024-2025 season will also mark the return of the play-offs for accession to Ligue 2. The first leg will be played on Tuesday May 20, 2025 and the return will take place on Sunday May 25, 2025. This meeting will pit the 16th in Ligue 2 against the 3rd from National.

As for the final of the Coupe de France, it will take place on May 24, 2025. For women, D1 Arkema will begin on September 21, 2024 and end on Wednesday May 7, 2025.
