Prosecution to Appeal Against Verdict in Vandiperiyar Rape and Murder Case

The prosecution in the Vandiperiyar rape and murder case of a six-year-old girl is set to appeal against the court’s verdict acquitting the accused. The demand to quash the current judgment will also be raised as the child’s family prepares to protest against the court verdict.

The Special Public Prosecutor will hand over the case files to the Director General of Prosecutions today. The appeal will be prepared after consultation with the legal experts of the DGP’s office. In the Vandiperiyar case, the Kattapana fast track court acquitted Arjun, the accused, due to lack of evidence.

The prosecution claims that justice will be served by the Supreme Court and evidence is required. The relatives of the child also want to file an appeal, and the Congress leadership has informed that they will provide legal assistance in the case.

The child’s family is protesting in front of the police station, demanding that the acquittal of accused Arjun be quashed. The protest is set to start at 10:30 today.

As the case continues to unfold, the community and legal experts remain hopeful that justice will be served for the young victim.
