Massive Fire Breaks Out at CBCL Company in Manali, Near Chennai

Chennai: A massive fire has broken out at the CBCL company in Manali near Chennai, creating panic amongst the residents of the area. The fire has caused black smoke to engulf the entire vicinity, giving it an eerie and dark appearance.

Reports suggest that the fire may have been caused by an oil leak at the Manali CPCL company. Firefighting operations are currently underway to control the blaze and prevent further damage to the area.

In addition to the fire, Ennore is also dealing with the aftermath of an oil spill. Petroleum oil waste from the Buckingham Canal has mixed with the Kosasthalai River and spread into the sea, leading to the destruction of fishermen’s boats and fishing nets. The oil waste has also caused damage to residential areas and has led to a loss of livelihood for many.

The National Green Tribunal has taken up the case and is currently investigating the situation. The tribunal has ordered the Tamil Nadu government and CPCL to quickly dispose of the oil waste, prompting the government to accelerate the process of removing the waste.

In response to the crisis, the Tamil Nadu government has announced that 48.6 tons of oil waste in approximately 276 barrels has been removed from the areas around Chennai Ennore port. The government has also partnered with a Mumbai-based company called ‘Sea Care Marine Services’ to assist with the removal process.

The authorities are working tirelessly to contain the fire and mitigate the environmental impact of the oil spill as the residents of Chennai and Manali grapple with the aftermath of these two major disasters.
