Deputy drops grenades in closed room with almost 30 people

In Ukraine, a deputy broke into a meeting and exploded three grenades. In addition to committing suicide, he has so far killed one person and injured 26 others, according to the Eastern European country’s National Police.

Local authorities’ security cameras captured all the action. The Ukrainian newspaper Kyiv Post published the footage on Twitter/X.

Serguei Bátrin was responsible for the attack. He was from the same Ukrainian party, Volodymyr Zelensky.

EU approves start of Ukraine accession negotiations

The grenade attack takes place in the face of the advance for Ukraine to join the European Union (EU). This week, bloc leaders agreed to open negotiations for the country’s accession to the group.

In a surprise announcement, European Council President and EU Summit President Charles Michel said leaders had decided to open accession negotiations with two countries. In addition to Ukraine, Moldova was mentioned.

Furthermore, Michel mentioned two other nations as possible future members of the economic bloc. On Twitter/X, he stated that the EU granted the status candidate for Georgia, in the Caucasus. According to him, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the Balkan Peninsula, will count on negotiations based on “compliance with the accession criteria”.

“A clear sign of hope for your people and for our continent”, concluded Michel.
