Houthi official warns of dire consequences for any hostile moves against Yemen

CAIRO (Reuters) – Ali al-Qahoum, a member of the Houthi group’s Ansarullah politburo, issued a stern warning on Friday, stating that any hostile move against Yemen would result in dire consequences and great costs.

In an interview with Al Mayadeen TV, al-Qahoum emphasized that the Houthi group will not abandon the Palestinian cause, despite threats from the United States, Israel, and Western nations. He also declared that operations against Israel will continue.

Furthermore, al-Qahoum stated that Yemen is prepared to respond to any hostile actions from the U.S., Israel, or Western countries with all available defensive options. He also emphasized Yemen’s commitment to protecting international maritime navigation in accordance with international laws and norms.

This statement comes in the wake of attacks on two Liberian-flagged ships in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which were attributed to Houthi-controlled Yemen. The U.S. military confirmed the attacks, highlighting the threat to vessels in shipping lanes targeted by the Iran-aligned group.

The Houthis, who are part of the Iran-aligned “Axis of Resistance,” have been targeting Red Sea shipping lanes and launching drones and missiles at Israel. They have stated that the attacks will continue until Israel ceases its offensive in the Gaza Strip.

The tension between the Houthi group and Western nations continues to escalate, with the situation in Yemen drawing international attention.
