Mourning in the world of theatre. The actor Sebastiano Lo Monaco has died at the age of 65. The news was reported by, among others, the Inda Foundation, the National Institute of Ancient Drama. “Today is a day of great sadness for the entire world of theater – writes the Foundation -. Sebastiano Lo Monaco has left us. A great actor, much loved by the public of the Greek Theater of Syracuse and several times among the great protagonists of classical performances. All the Inda Foundation expresses its condolences for the loss of a great interpreter who leaves a beautiful memory in all of us and joins the pain of his family, theater enthusiasts and all the people who loved Sebastiano”.
Lo Monaco, a Sicilian born in Floridia, was an actor, director and playwright, graduated from the National Academy of Dramatic Art. He has directed several theaters in Italy, including that of Messina and the Pirandello Theater in Agrigento. Lo Monaco, an expert Pirandello interpreter, was also the protagonist of classical shows at the Greek theater in Syracuse. Among the many texts of which he was the protagonist, we remember ‘Henry IV’, ‘Il beretto a Sonagli’, ‘Tonight we recite a subject’ and ‘Six characters in search of an author’.
