Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu this evening (Friday) referred to the announcement of the tragic death of the three abductees Yotam Haim, Samer Fuad Al Talalka and Alon Shamriz, who were mistakenly identified as a threat and shot by IDF forces.

“Bows our head in deep sorrow and mourns the fall of three of our dear sons who were kidnapped. This is an unbearably difficult tragedy,” Netanyahu said. “I strengthen our brave warriors who are engaged in the sacred mission of returning our abductees, even at the cost of their lives. Even on this difficult evening, we will bind up our wounds, learn the lessons and continue with a supreme effort to return all our abductees home safely.”

Defense Minister Yoav Galant: At this difficult time, my heart and thoughts are with the families of the three abductees who were accidentally killed by IDF fire in the Gaza Strip. These are difficult hours, the mistake is painful for every Israeli, regardless of who he is, we must show patience, and continue to act for our abductees, our soldiers and our citizens. I spoke with the Chief of Staff this evening to learn about the circumstances of the tragic event and to ensure that lessons are learned immediately.

The chairman of the state camp and minister Benny Gantz was the first among the cabinet ministers to comment: “My heart is broken upon learning of the tragedy tonight. I want to hug the families – the whole nation of Israel is crying with you. I strengthen all the families of the abductees, as well as the soldiers who are deep in the area and are carrying out a complex and important mission the likes of which we have not known since the establishment of the state.”

According to Gantz, “The pain that accompanies the campaign grows more in light of the difficult event. Our responsibility is to win the war, and part of that victory will be to return the kidnapped people home. We will do everything to bring them back alive. Everything.”
