This spring, employees of the American charity Portland Rescue Mission unexpectedly discovered a pair of rare sneakers among old trousers and T-shirts. The value of the perfectly preserved sneakers that fell out of the clothing container is now estimated at $20,000.

According to a report by the New York Times The gold-colored copies are proven to be individual pieces from a mini edition that was made for Spike Lee – recognizable, among other things, by the incorporated logo of “40 Acres and a Mule Filmwork”, the American director and actor’s production company. More precisely, it is the Nike Air Jordan Retro 3 model that Spike Lee wore at the 2019 Oscars.

The designer of the shoes, Tinker Hatfield, who was contacted by the finders, also confirmed the authenticity of the shoes. Hatfiled also stated that only five pairs of this model were made and kindly signed a box in which the shoes are now being auctioned off at Sotheby’s. The auction has already started and ends next Monday; The proceeds of course benefit the Portland Rescue Mission, which cares for the homeless and addicts.

The mystery of how the shoes found their way into the clothing container remains unsolved. But even if the donation was a mistake, it couldn’t have ended any better so close to Christmas. Here can be increased.
