Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: The Islamic Dawa Party issued a statement regarding the exciting statement about the city of Mosul, indicating that electoral competition should not be at the expense of security and stability.

Al-Masala publishes the text of the statement:

We express our disapproval and astonishment at the return of some politicians to stoke the hateful fire of sectarianism once again, despite the tragedies and pain that our people have endured as a result of that for lean years that have passed and ended.

The exciting statement about the humpbacked city of Mosul, a symbol of national, religious and national coexistence, that: (Mosul is the city of Sunni Arabs. Whoever wants, whoever refuses…) indicates bad intentions and a miserable attempt to re-divide the people, especially in Mosul, on a sectarian and racist basis, and aims to distort identity. This Iraqi city, which has always been the city of everyone, from Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen, Shabak, Yazidis, and Christians, in the past and present, and will remain so in the future, so where were those discordant voices when the crows of the terrorist organization ISIS attacked this city and others, violated its sanctities, captured its women, and displaced its people? Why did they not rise up in Mosul and save it from these evil and strange foreign terrorists?

While we denounce this reckless language, we affirm that electoral competition must not be at the expense of security and stability, or a reason for inciting sectarian and racist tendencies in Iraq and its various governorates. Likewise, people who fan the flames of strife through these statements must be held accountable in accordance with the laws in force in the country.
