Apple iPhone: The developer of the gag app “iBeer” made so much money | life & knowledge

by time news

This app has in the early years of the iPhone almost everyone downloaded!

Developer Steve Sheraton (52) has been golden since 2008 with the launch of the app store on a simple idea: his app “iBeer” made the iPhone look like you’re drinking beer with your cell phone.

A funny gag that many did not miss. You could buy the program for $2.99.

Now developer Sheraton revealed: The mega run on the app made him filthy rich!

thousands of euros a day

Because on the very first day, his program shot to first place in the App Store charts and stayed there for a year, the inventor said in an interview with the Mel-Magazine

“In our heyday, we were making $10,000 to $20,000 a day,” said Sheraton, who worked as a magician before finding success. “But the sudden huge popularity of the app and this lifestyle – coupled with all the publicity and stress that comes with it – is an avalanche that can destroy people.”

His app worked very simply: It was just a video! To do this, he programmed the virtual beer to move when you tilt your cell phone. The sensors built into the iPhone made it possible.

Sheraton explains the app’s success as follows: “It allowed people to show their friends what the phone can do. You could show them maps and all that weird stuff – but iBeer was easier to understand and a fun, entertaining way.”

For the longest time, he made about $2,000 a day with the app, the developer revealed.

With his accumulated fortune, Sheraton has since retired. The developer lives on a farm in Spain and programs apps for magicians. He is happy “to be able to serve the needs of an industry that I love”.

“iBeer” is now owned by his old company, Hottrik. The app has not been updated for four years. The download is now free. But for money you can turn the beer into milk, lemonade or wine.
