UEMOA: Specialized health care keeps health ministers busy

On December 8, 2023, the WAEMU ministers in charge of Health held their annual meeting, by videoconference. Opportunity to review the challenges and priorities for the health well-being of the populations of the sub-region.

Discuss topics of common interest and strengthen solidarity between UEMOA member states. This is the objective of the annual meeting of ministers responsible for health in UEMOA. For this meeting which took place by videoconference, all the States of the Union were asked to examine the report of the meeting of experts from the Member States held from December 4 to 6, 2023 as well as the conclusions resulting of their work. Therefore, the ministers, on occasion, made recommendations to the stakeholders, namely the Member States, the UEMOA Commission and the Partners, on strengthening the capacities for implementing the Regulation international health, the development of the UEMOA health strategy and the acceleration of the UEMOA high-level specialized health care center project. In his closing speech of the meeting, the Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Pierre DIMDA congratulated and thanked the UEMOA Commission for holding of this ministerial meeting which allowed them to assess subjects of interest in health in the Union.
