The Speaker of the House of Representatives has officially announced: I will run for another term in Congress

Nancy Pelosi has pledged to chair the House for only two terms, and earlier this week she revealed she would run for another term as San Francisco’s congresswoman.

Nancy Pelosi officially announced yesterday (Tuesday) that she intends to run for another term in Congress, but she declined to reveal whether she intends to run for another term as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Remember, the 81-year-old Pelosi – a Democrat who has represented the San Francisco area since 1987 – became the first woman to chair the House of Representatives when she was elected to office in 2007. In the 2010 election, Republicans regained control of the lower house of Congress, so Pelosi finished Its role.

Pelosi returned to chair the House of Representatives in early 2019, following the 2018 elections, and at the time she pledged to serve in office for only two terms (two years each). Therefore, many thought she would choose to retire from Congress ahead of the midterm elections this coming November.

In a video posted on the official Twitter account of the Speaker, Pelosi explained that she is “running for another term in Congress and asking for their support … Our democracy is in danger because of the attack on the truth, the attack on the Capitol and the attack on the right to vote in many countries.”
