The Government is trying to calm the waters after the anger in the judicial leadership. This week the Minister of Justice, Félix Bolaños, faces several key appointments. Tomorrow he will attend the delivery of offices to the prosecutors chaired by the king, Felipe VI. And on Tuesday, if there are no scheduling problems, Bolaños will meet with the president of the Supreme Court. We will see if there are no more unforeseen events, because this meeting was already suspended last week, after Junts’ accusations to the judges in Congress.

It was the spokesperson for Puigdemont’s party, Miriam Nogueras, who unleashed the controversy from the gallery of the Lower House. Specifically, she charged against a “politicized justice” and considered that in a democratically normalized country these “indecent” people, in relation to those judges, “would be dismissed and tried.”

Junts closes ranks around Nogueras

The escaped former president, Carles Puigdemont, has come to the defense of Nogueras. On the social network X (formerly known as Twitter), he has criticized that “the system is eaten away.”

And the president of Junts per Catalunya, Laura Borràs, goes one step further. She considers that her partner “fell short” when this week she cited several judges by name and surname. In statements to ara.cat, Borràs has also assured that ‘lawfare’, or judicial harassment, “is used in Spain to combat the independence movement”, something that “has happened and is happening.”

The former president of the Parliament has also spoken about the meeting that Pedro Sánchez will supposedly have with Carles Puigdemont. She affirms that “it is agreed and will take place”, and adds that in this meeting “work must be done to resolve the conflict between Catalonia and Spain.”
