Pastor Denis Rakotozafy succeeds Dr Irako Ammi Andriamahazosoa at the head of the Ecumenical Council of Christian Churches of Madagascar (FFKM). This decision was taken during the council held yesterday in Fianarantsoa. The transfer of power will take place on January 21, 2024 at FJKM Analakely, marking the end of the mandate of the outgoing pastor.

At this meeting, goals for the coming year were set, emphasizing local expansion, developing ecumenism and improving internal aspects of the organization. The FFKM has also taken decisions to promote ecumenism in the country, such as establishing new liturgies and intensifying “ecumenical dialogue” to encourage exchanges on diverse perspectives within the council.

The question of “mediation” by political actors to avoid the crisis in the country, initiated before the presidential election, was also addressed during the council and could be pursued in different ways by the FFKM despite the criticism launched against it.

This change within the presidency of the FFKM is seen as a path to emancipation for supporters of the Rajoelina regime who seem to have a grudge against the Christian Church of Jesus Christ in Madagascar (FJKM), chaired by Dr Irako Ammi Andriamahazosoa.
